Legal Question
I am an American in Britain on a tourist visa, which is going to expire in a couple weeks (that is, if a tourist visa lasts 3 months, like I think it does; please correct me if I am wrong). I don't want to leave, and am wondering what my options are. I have been looking for a job without luck, but I am still looking. After the 8th of April, I will not be able to accept a job in Britain without leaving the country and coming back in.
Should I:
A) get a round trip ticket to Amsterdam or some such around the time my visa runs out? Do you think that the passport folks will let me back in?
B) keep looking for a job, and if/when I find one, make the round trip to Amsterdam, staying in the country illegally in the meantime?
C) go back to the US and continue looking for a job here from there?
I would especially appreciate advice from someone who has been through similar circumstances, worked for passport control, or knows something about the legal rights of foreigners. Thanks, you guys!
