EXO-CBX to debut in Japan in May
“The first subunit of Korean male group, ‘EXO’, announced on 10th via the live-streaming service LINE LIVE’s programme ‘Eat and Talk’, that they will make a Japanese début in May.
The subunit consists of Chen (24), Baekhyun (24), and Xiumin (26). Last year they made their début in Korea with the mini album titled, ‘Hey Mama!’ and since then they have performed on numerous music shows. As a group, EXO has a cool and attractive image, but CBX also brings a colourful and pop sound.
Today, the three have sat down with Nikkan Sports for an exclusive interview.

Xiumin: ‘It’s because the three of us really understand each others’ feelings. We also share a similar style of music that we want to pursue.’
ㅡ They say that the three of you are the best singers in EXO.
Baekhyun: ‘Thank you so much for those words.’
Xiumin: 'I’m not one of the main vocals, but I hope that through CBX’s activities I can improve.’
ㅡ Are you more excited or nervous about your début?
Chen: 'Personally, I am always more excited than nervous. When we were grouped together for the unit, I felt more pressure because the other members weren’t around, but I had high expectations for our future performances as a subunit.’
ㅡ What sort of activities would you like to take part in here in Japan?
Xiumin: 'We want to visit various regions and hold fan events. That will be the goal for this year.’
ㅡ What’s the biggest difference between EXO and CBX?
Chen and Xiumin (in unison): 'We’re more free and uncontrolled.’
EXO holds the record of the youngest overseas artist, in terms of time since début, to have held a concert at Tokyo Dome (3 years 7 months).’ EXO’s first subunit plans to make their début in Japan early summer. They have already garnered attention outside the K-Pop fandom.
EXO débuted in both China and Korea in April of 2012. The group became the first million seller in 12 years with their first album, ‘XOXO’. They were also the only Asian artist to appear on Billboard’s list of ’14 Artists to Listen to in 2014’. In November of 2015, the group made their Japanese début with their single, ‘Love Me Right’. The same year, the group topped three of Oricon’s yearly ranking for new artists charts. EXO has also held concerts at Tokyo Dome two years in a row. Last year, all of their videos on Youtube combined to total 1 billion views.”
