I'm inclined to say that you are both girls - deserving of ivy league and also a bit of an underachieving middle class mess.

It's your opportunity to stand out. You made it there without being the model of perfection that you envision. And honestly, I'm sure you'll find that a fair share of them are just like you. And I'm sure there will be just as many who are completely undeserving but they have rich mommies and daddies who bought their way in because they're friends with soandso. Don't worry about it so much, you'll do marvelously. You've already surpassed so many other people in terms of work you've put into it and effort and morals and things you've believed in. You really do deserve it.

you got into barnard for a reason! don't doubt yourself.

i've found that at barnard, those aren't the kind of girls there. i mean i don't know a lot of barnard girls, but from my recollection, there is a lot of diversity within the small school setting. and true, there will be girls like that. but that doesn't mean they are any better than you. college is what you make of it and the friends you keep, and don't get hung up on anything else besides learning and the friends.

Yeah, there is definitely no reason at all that you shouldn't go to Barnard. Sure, you may have started out the "wrong" way, but you are the most driven person I have ever met, or at least you seem to be. They are not even going to know what they've got. Now, stop doubting your placement and start rocking their world.
