Summer plans:

Academic enslavement.  Research & Business Writing (May - August) (need as a college requirement), Financial Accounting (through UCF online, May - June) (need for my major), Eating Disorders or Man's Food (June - August) (GPA padding).  I'm going to be part Knight for two months, and I should even be getting a UCF student ID, but just to make it clear, I still bleed orange and blue ; ]

I scrapped the idea of the US Wheat Associates internship in Washington completely, as well as other job opportunities requiring me to leave Gainesville.  My lab position is the best thing to have happened to me at UF since fencing.  The professor and grad/doc/post-doc students are all amazing people, and I will likely be getting paid.  Even if I didn't get a cent for going, I'd still go happily and willingly.  The work experience is great, and I really don't have that kind of guarantee anywhere else.

I'm subleasing an apartment across the street from campus from Jon, a close friend from the team.  My future roommates (Patrick and Omar) are both male, so no, I don't plan on telling my parents.  (I told them I was living with one other girl, and if necessary I'll ask Omar's girlfriend to stop by).  If anyone happens to be in Gainesville this summer and needs a place to stay, I'd be more than happy to accomodate you!

I'm strangely optimistic about this summer.  I have a lot of hope that I'll still find time to re-connect with Bradenton people while I'm up here, and that my relationship with Jesse will come out of a lull and make the time spent together more worthwhile.  As big as the threat is of neither of these things turning out as planned, I'm still holding on to that optimism.
