The Hype! The Glory! The Harry Potter!

Oh noes. I've now watched two Harry Potter movies, and I enjoyed them too. :o Not that I ever thought there's anything wrong with them, but I never expected to like them either. I don't usually like all these hyped things like LOTR and whatnot, it's not that I "want to be different" or anything silly like that but that's just how it usually goes. ( Read more... )

Why are you so against reading the books? If I may ask :P

It's mainly because I'm lazy. :P This is not a genre I'd normally get into (fantasy or whatever you'd call it) and I've only read one fantasy book in my entire life (Neil Gaiman's Stardust, which I did enjoy though) so in my head I'm thinking it'd take "extra work" from me as a reader to get into the HP books and understand the beauty of them. If that makes any sense?

Also, there was a time when I got so sick of even hearing the words "Harry" and "Potter" that I refused to have anything to do with it. But I do realize that's just silly and wouldn't let the popularity of something prevent me normally, if it wasn't for the fact that it seems way too complicated for me to read the HP books and understand them. So I don't want to read them just because they're supposedly good and popular either, 'cause I normally wouldn't even go to that section in the library. (I don't actually know in which section they are in the library but anyway. :D)

Nope, not good enough excuses :P

I really don't think it would take much for you to get into them. I mean... people of all ages are able to get into them and understand them. I don't think the plot or any of the characters or anything is really that terribly difficult.

Also, I was the same way with HP at first. I stayed away from it because everyone kept going on about it, but now I regret not getting into it with everyone else. I promise you, it's really not that complicated.

*entices* Hee.

Hee. You and Kya have almost tempted me into reading the first book. :D *moans* But I don't waaannaaaa... :P Fine. Okay. I tell you what; I'll read the first book just to see what it's all about. If nothing else, at least I'll be able to say I did try it instead of just whimpering about how I won't understand it or like it. Next Saturday I'll head to the library and hope the English version of it is available. If it is, I'll grab it and read it. So there.

There goes the "I'll never touch the Harry Potter books" principle. Well, it was a sucky principle to begin with so... *kicks it out of the window*
