Zumba Zumba

So, I went to my very first Zumba class today.
I'd so underestimated it since my mother-in-law, who has a bad back, does Zumba.
But talking about it on Twitter prior to class made me feel a bit intimidated. LOL
Thanks to all my Twitter friends who gave me encouragement, that really helped! LOL

For anybody unfamiliar with it, here's a clip of a typical ( Read more... )

Yay! Zumba Love!

Zumba is the type of class that varies wildly. Some classes are totally hardcore and some are super easy. I teach Zumba. My goal is to make my classes hysterical. We definitely work out (I'm dripping in sweat when we're done) but it HAS to be fun. I always add in at least a few moves that will make the girls laugh ^_^

I hope you stick with it and love it!

You. Teach. Zumba???? *A*
I need you here right now to tell me the steps. LOL

Yeah, my friend told me that the classes are pretty different depending on who the instructor of the day is, too.

I really totally sucked, but it was still enjoyable, so I'm hoping I'll like it more and more. ^^

BTW, I really need to get a new pair of workout shoes. Do you have any recommendation?? :3

*giggle* The basic steps aren't too bad. http://youtu.be/nzm3jO_yQno Here is a video with some of them. Don't worry about not getting them down the first time. It'll take a couple of classes then you'll be all like "Why the hell didn't I get this sooner!" ;)

You need shoes that have little tread on the bottom. Personally, I wear Nike Dual Fusion which aren't really ideal but they work for the surface I teach on. (I teach on a basketball court.) If you are in a dance studio, you might want to look at hip hop sneakers at a dance supply store. Other instructors wear Nike Musique, Ryka Transition, and Nike Free. Zumba also sells their own shoes on their website but they can be pricey.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, that's actually the same video I favorited yesterday myself! It's good to know you recommend it, too. Thanks! :D

*sigh* I hope you're right about "Why the hell didn't I get this sooner", but I did buy a Zumba 2 for wii today, so I'll learn the steps that way, too. ^^

Thank you for your advice on the shoes. :3
They are rather pricey, aren't they? 9_9;;;
But the Zumba website has them on sale now, so they're pretty competitive, but I want to get them as soon as I can, so maybe I'll look at Amazon, too. (I get a fast free shipping there.) I might try a local shoe store or two, as well.... Maybe an athletic store.... 9_9

The people who work at the runner's market are reeeaaally great. If you've got any back/knee/foot pains, they'll work to find a shoe/inserts that will help with that along with a type of shoe that works best for what you're wanting it for. :) /random interjection
