D'oh, I told you not to ask!! LOLOL Well, since it's you who's asking....
If the woman is whom I think it is and if he wanted to follow his heart to pursue his career, I think the breakup was inevitable. I believe it was his ex-wife.
Well, this is a beautiful song, for sure ! I personnally love this album ! :) And I think I can understand your feelings listening to it, because I'm sure I just feel the same ! ^^
Edit : Oh, and I'm sorry but I forgot to ask : I didn't catch the translation of the title itself... ?
Oh!! Hahahaha, busted!! X'D Yeah, I didn't translate the title because it's very difficult to translate that phrase. But it's literally something like "The Best Sayonara I Can Give" or "Sayonara With All My Might", but what it means is more like "So Hard To Say Sayonara".
There were times not that long ago I couldn't even listen to Love Letter... It was sooo very much not my thing... And then song by song it kinda grew on me. And that my "only GACKT"...xD
You know what, as much as he's so very present/future orienteded, as a person, always saying ew shold live so good so we have nothing to regret in the end, so many of his songs are talking about people lingering in the past, not being able to forget or let go, regreting... And while the hope is there, yeah, it's the hope for the past to continue and nor really a hope for a new start... It got kinda complicated. Hmmm... I guess as much as we all aspire to look into the future, noone can go pass regret...

Hmmm, not sure about 'regret'... I don't know, but if G's anything like me in this, he probably doesn't regret a whole lot of things, not in the sense that he wants to go back and redo things in life.
I do sometimes feel a sense of sadness about how I handled things or how things went, but in the end, I don't want to go back and change anything because I believe those things happened for a reason, and I am here as a result of all those things for a reason, as well.
GACKT is very present/future-oriented, yes! And he knows that the future depends on the quality of the present moment you live. He can be such an idiot sometimes, but he can also be incredibly wise, ne. ^^

"...he wants to go back and redo things in life." Oh, I don't think he does either, I was talking strictly about some of his lyrics here... And the people IN his lyrics... His song's characters do regret a lot, I think…
And the regret I mentioned in the last sentence was not in the sense of wanting to “correct” things, since for me regret is not just that... It's also that sadness you are talking about... I mean I regret some things I did (or didn't do) in my life, but I still wouldn’t really want to change them since they are part of the person I am now without them I wouldn’t be... well me... But thinking now my perception of "regret" might be a bit strange?xD
Sorry that sentence in my first comment became such a conglomerate of unclear thoughts... I was just somehow having difficulties putting my feelings at the moment into words, since I was trying to explain them as they came and at break at work orz xD...

Oh, I see! No, no problem at all. I do understand what you mean, and I do think G lets himself (and his characters) indulge in regret in his songs, too. I mean, good songs are often about regrets and sadness, ne. X'3
I'm so ashamed of myself... I haven't heard this song before!! Y____Y I love the lyrics. so tender and beautiful and somehow... mature about parting. mature and non-dramatic. thank you, Val-san! *biiig big hugs*
I have the latest albums. the rest i just... you know, find on youtube ... and yes, i have tried to track down ALL his songs systematically using the wikipedia discography, which is why it was so suprising to discover that i still seem to have missed out on some. i heard it on youtube yesterday.... such a sweet song!
Just was listening to it as I checked the updates I missed and found the lyrics. Amazing. I find this song very comfoting by sound. The whole album is. I really love it. It's so full of love even though this seems to me to be a rather sad chapter/part/topic in his life. A man so full of love and still it's kind of unfortunate in love it seems. I hope with all my heart it's just my impression and that there is much good love in his real life. :D
These lines look really so GACKT-like. It's pure GACKT. *had to say it again*
I wonder why I not only get emotional but also tend to entirely relax and feel comfortable and blessed/loved when I listen to these songs on this album. OK I don't actually understand the lyrics as I listen, that might be part of it.
A very warm thank you for the translation o-nee-san.
Hmmm, I don't know if he has real love in his life, if you mean romantic love. But I don't really think about it much, it's really not my business and I'm not gonna assume he's somehow unfulfilled if he's not in a good romantic relationship, because I don't believe that you have to be happy in love in order to be happy in life.
With that said... :3
This album really is a tearjerker one after another when you're having a rough time. And yeah, it's not just that it makes me cry, but it really makes me feel loved and embraced with warmth, by his voice.

Yeah, I did my own systematic collection of G songs when I first became a fan, but I was still surprised to find some I didn't own after a while! XD
