Relieved...

Boy, I'm glad the certain recent post has been finally taken down by the mod. (If you didn't notice it, consider yourself lucky.)
I was becoming increasingly sad, for the OP.
I regretted going to bed without asking the mod to take it down already, but when I woke up, it was gone.

It was a huge deal over something stupid. I applaud Laura for staying cool about it and giving the OP a chance to remove it first. Some people in particular got all up in arms about THEIR MACROS OMG being stolen. Yeah it was lame of the person to do but fankly... come on. You opened up a jpeg in MS Paint and stuck some words on it. Big whoop.

Everyone made a mountain out of a molehill.

Oh, so it was the OP that took it down...
Thanks for telling me, Mer!
I didn't know if she'd just left the comm in the middle of the never-ending thread.

I wish that people would just discretely pm the OP if they have serious issues with the content, you know?

Something like this is bound to happen once in a while in any comm, I guess. Sad but inevitable in a huge open-admission comm like this dears.

I dont actually know who it was that ended up taking it down... I just know that Laura wanted to give the OP a chance to do so before jumping on her. How it all ended though I'm not certain.

I saw this post yesterday. Like you said, while she did mark which ones were the ones others made she could have labeled them more clearly, and stated specific credit to each marco. But it was made into something bigger then it needed to be, unfortunately. On a side note, I've seen a lot of macros with offensive wording in it, it doesn't make it right i know, but i just wasn't surprised by it.
I'm glad it was taken down though.. i felt so bad for the OP..

Right.
The first few criticisms were constructive and meant to keep the OP out of trouble. But soon, some jumped on the wagon and turn the discussion into something so negative and somehow all about "themselves". (-"-)
The OP certainly didn't deserve THAT.

Yeah, the word in question, that didn't surprise me, either. But then again, it is a sensitive term, highly derogatory to some people.
And I couldn't really imagine G using that word anyway, except in humor with his closest of friends (of course, if he were a native English speaker, that is). Therefore, it wasn't funny to me, personally...

Thanks for your comment, BTW. =D

I feel kind of bad that I didn't speak up and point it out sooner. I know that a couple of people were feeling kind of defensive about their work being reposted, and that the label was kind of unclear, and I noticed it right away. I should be less afraid to speak up, I just hate confrontation like that...

It bothers me sometimes that we can be so eager to jump on people over the internet. I honestly doubt the situation would have been handled in the same manner if this had been a real-world, face-to-face issue. I think people forget that there are real human beings behind the words we read on the internet. There are real human emotions involved in the things we say and do online. It's easy for some people to say "oh, it's just the internet, it's not real," but for some of us, it's not so easy.

Oh, everybody hates confrontations like that! XS
I can understand how you stayed away for a while.
I did, too, until I really wanted to say something comforting to the OP. (^_^;

Your second paragraph states exactly my thoughts, too, word for word.
There are real human beings with emotions behind all of these userpics, and since we can only convey "words" without any extra sensory information attached to them, it's very important how we express ourselves on the internet. Always.
Oh, the internet can be extremely hurtful. Not everybody's strong enough to shrug it off. We all know some people have killed themselves over cyber bullying.

You know, you both sounded like Gackt just then because hasn't he said the same thing about the internet, and stuff like forums and whatnot?

Anyways, that's why I try not to say nasty things on the internet, because I realize that this way isn't the best way to convey my emotions, so some of my stuff will be worded with so many apologies and "no offense" stuff, it's crazy! LOL

LOL...I think I post the phrase "Please don't take this personally!" more than anything else when I start getting into conversations and debates with people. I know that in written word I can come across as really harsh because of the way I phrase things, and I feel really bad about it later.

I think the biggest issue was that most of the community either didn't see or didn't understand the line in the post that said "internet goods." (I know it took me a minute to figure it out) So a lot of people misunderstood it as the person claiming the work as their own. It probably would have been best if the poster had made it more clear, but I don't think the person meant any harm by it.

Honestly, I don't know the entirety of what happened, because after I made my comment I went to bed and by the time I woke up the whole thing was gone. I'm sure you weren't attacking the OP, you don't strike me as the type of person to do that.

Can I just add that it is really heartwarming to see someone as kind as you on Livejournal? Seriously, there are so many aggressive and defensive personalities (like my own, but I'm working on it) on the internet that it is refreshing to see people who care about others the way you do.

I hope nothing ever happens to change that wonderful part of you and the others here that think like you.

Oh, geez....
You're making me cry... (;_;)
I don't think I deserve such high praises, but it's very nice of you to think that about me.
Oh, I'm just much older than most of you, that's all!!! LOL

*hugs*
