And this week I'm back to three days on, five days off! Scheduling surgery and vacation so near each other might just have been a brilliant master stroke by yours truly. But before I get to go out of town, let's
remember the weekend that was.
Friday night I was spontaneous!
salami_salome contacted me right before I left work and we wound up getting together for some dinner (Chipotle) and hangin' out at the Target and Kohl's in Silver Spring. Maybe I actually needed some retail therapy, it was a lot of fun! I got a cute cap, which thanks to the rain I wound up wearing most of the weekend. Anyway, it was very cool to hang out but by the time I got home at like 9:30 I was beat. I weighed the relative merits of watching Dollhouse but instead puttered around a bit, cleaned the cat boxes, and decided just to get to the sleepin'. And a good sleep it was!
I had plans for Saturday, though, and they started with taking the dang dressing off my left hand woohoo!! Let me tell you, it was awesome. I still have to wear the wrist brace and be pretty delicate with my hand while the stitches are still in, because of the cyst-removal incision mainly, but it means no more annoying showers with my left hand wrapped up in masking tape and plastic bags! Anyway, I got up and I did that and I showered and basically got myself right over to the movie theater where I met up with a bunch of folks to see Watchmen a second time. What do you know - it's still awesome! Excited for the Black Freighter DVD next week. Afterward, even though it was early, we hit Famous Dave's. Yum! So I was social all afternoon and then at 6 p.m. was all, "Now what?" It was gray and rainy, so I went to run an errand or two but didn't have much gumption. I did find a great backpack for laptop/carry-on bag combined for like $10 at Marshall's, which was awesome. (With my wrist all dainty, I really want to minimize the amount of crap I have to deal with at the airport later this week.) I went home and basically spent Saturday evening on the laptop in front of the TV. Dollhouse was another awesome episode, I get more into it every week. I went to bed fairly early, for a Saturday.
And still managed to sleep late enough/move slow enough (can I still blame my dainty wrist?) to miss church yet again. I'm doing a really crap job at this Lent thing. Ah well. I had a bunch more errands to run (gifts for my friends putting me up in Austin this week, groceries, guitar lesson payment, etc.) which basically took me until it was time to go to my folks. Stupid dainty wrist. (I can blame it for everything! =) I got home, put away groceries, loaded up the cart with dirty laundry, and headed out. It was a nice dinner, and I left a bit early because I stupidly forgot to set the DVR to record Kings. I missed the first fifteen minutes, and after watching the next 45 I was pretty bored, so we'll just see about that one. Sorry, Ian McShane. It's not your fault! I went to bed pretty early, with Tylenol PM because I tried sleeping without it Saturday night to mixed results. The dainty wrist still complains a lot if I sleep in certain positions. I think getting back to regular exercise will also help but that is also hindered by - you guessed it - my dainty wrist. Not supposed to over-exert while stitches are still in. I will aim for mild to moderate exertion, except this morning, when I just couldn't get the heck out of bed. Fail! Got to work a little late, not too bad. Now must focus more attention on actual work things, what with only having three days this week. (woo!)
