Called my orthopedist this morning and made an appointment for a week and a half from now. Bless them, they have all their forms online so you can fill them out at your leisure and bring them with you to the office. Hooray!
The left wrist has gotta get fixed, and soon. It's been...two? Three? Wait, let me look it up...Yep, two years ago! Jan. 22, 2007 I got my right wrist fixed with surgery for my carpal tunnel syndrome. The left didn't affect me as much so I put it off. Well now that I have nearly two years of guitar lessons down, and the wrist continues to worsen, to the point where I have trouble holding a cereal bowl long enough for me to actually consume a bowl of cereal...it's time. I've been going over the pros and cons of continuing guitar lessons now that I'm hitting the two-year mark, and I think it is only fair to see what changes once practicing does not actually hurt me anymore. Also, my wrists are stronger and I feel like recovery from this surgery will go quickly. So, off to the doctor I go. It's the same orthopedist, so he'll have all my records, and hopefully he won't dilly-dally around with more nerve conduction tests (it was really bad two years ago; it's worse now) or cortisone shots (they didn't work the first time) but will just get me into the surgery, stat. I actually (*gasp*) have a little sick leave saved up so no time like the present!
