And now, since I didn't have time for it yesterday, how about a
weekend roundup?
Friday night: Pretty sleepy. Par for the course! I talked to
maudallan on the phone for a while, though, which was cool. Then I watched a bit of Monk and called
bonnykate and left a message. I determined I would not actually be able to stay awake through Psych and set the VCR to tape the rebroadcast at 1 a.m. BK called me back just as I was trudging off to bed but we only talked for about ten minutes. Well, I will see her in a week and a half anyway!
Apparently I really needed the sleep, 'cause I slept for nearly 12 hours. Damn. I got up and ate breakfast while watching the tape of Psych. Then I showered and headed up to the Circuit City in Ellicott City. It was time for a new cell phone! Exciting! My nephew had gotten me a CC gift card for Christmas, and I was at a loss as to what to get, when I thought I'd like to upgrade my phone. I actually got one with a camera which is pretty neat, I must say. Not that the pictures are very good but it's handy for all those times you think "Man I wish I had a camera right now!" Anyway, I took it home and switched my service over to the new phone and set it to charging. I really love Virgin Mobile. They're very easy to use and now have many flexible plans if I ever wanted to get away from pay-by-the-minute. Anyway, this week I was heading to my folks' on Saturday because that was the only day my brother and sister-in-law and the kids could make it. The phone wasn't finished charging so I packed up phone & charger and my laundry and I headed to Mom and Dad's. Turns out the kids were so busy with their social lives that it wound up just being Jeff and Shalene joining us for dinner! It was actually kind of nice getting together with just the adults, because it happens so rarely. We had a nice roast and good conversation. I didn't wind up leaving my folks' place until 8:30 or so. When I got home I found
necrocannibal and
msteleute busy, and then I got sucked into putting all my numbers into my new phone's memory. And learning how to use the camera. And basically working my way through the owner's manual. Eventually, though, it was like 11:30 and I still had energy (probably had to do with that 12 hours of sleep), so I called
maudallan and we met up at the Diner. We hung out until a little after 1 a.m. and then I went home. I am pleased to report that the Diner made a perfectly delicious chocolate egg cream this time! They had failed miserably on an earlier visit.
Sunday morning, got up and went to church/groceries like usual. After coming home and putting stuff away, I realized I had a whole lotta time since I wasn't going to the folks' that day. I watched the last three episodes of Jeeves and Wooster and sent them back to netflix. I filled out my form to renew my driver's license via mail, an option that is only open to me this one time so I grabbed it. It means having the same damn driver's license picture until I'm 40, but who cares? It saves me a trip to the MVA! Around 6 I packed up and headed to
meatnog's place for the Superbowl. It was fun hanging out and sort of paying attention to the game and yammering. And
falkonne made his dangerously addictive onion dip, YUM! Eventually the game bored me and I headed out, stopping by to visit with NC and MsT and
bribro briefly. We watched the Puppy Bowl and part of the Kitty Halftime Show. Animal Planet is freakin' brilliant, I must say. Eventually I went home and went to sleep.
You've already heard about most of Monday. After having the police come and take down the information on the EIGHT cars with smashed windows, and after trying to clean out the glass from my car, I gave up and went inside because I felt frozen solid. Set up the glass repair appointment and didn't really have much to do. The sun coming in was so bright and warm, I just wanted to sit in it. So I lay on the bed in the sunshine for a while, then said the heck with it and got undressed again and got into bed. Where I slept until 1 p.m. AHHH. I made myself some lunch and watched Northern Exposure (♥ ♥ ♥ - thank you MsT and NC!) on DVD until it was time to get my window fixed. I brought my
book (which is quite enjoyable...but I have to pick up Omnivore's Dilemma soon!) with me and settled in. It only took a little over an hour for them to replace the window. Hooray! I drove home, stopping off at Food Lion for a few things I'd managed to forget. Then I settled in for dinner and eventually Heroes, which I thoroughly enjoyed as usual. Then bed, and out to work this morning. Very pleased to discover no further harm done to car. Outdoor cats seem to be surviving the cold, if not exactly happy about it. Extra and River now have to dodge and weave around each other as they both try to rub my legs. I swear I am just going to trip over one or the other of them one day.
Speaking of tripping and falling, which I worry about doing when it's icy, but ESPECIALLY when it's icy and I have stitches in my palm... I finally got a picture of my stitches online. I did it with my camera phone so it's not the greatest quality, but you can take a gander (if you are so inclined)
here (you can see my band-aid dangling artistically there). I had to take action because the stitches come out this very afternoon. Thank GOD.
And that's how my unexpected three-day weekend went. And hey, I get to leave early today to go get the stitches out! Bonus!
Tonight: Gilmore Girls, House
Next week: Nashville!
