It's beginning to look a lot like...

Black Friday! They had the usual news story this morning about the people lined up at 5 a.m. to get into Best Buy and whatnot. And all I can think is, "People! Are you crazy? You have the day off and you're already out of bed? What the...?" Because I do not have today off, and man would I rather be sleeping? Darn skippy. But the commute in was perfect, since hardly anyone else was on the roads. And msteleute and necrocannibal are traipsing down to have lunch with me. So huzzah!

Tonight, time to put up the lights. My staple-gun gets its once-a-year workout hanging the Christmas lights. My place still smells a bit like baking pumpkin pies, and I can light up my "Apple Butter" candle and sit around and...well, probably fall asleep early. But that's just fine.

Yesterday was a lovely Thanksgiving, despite the disgusting weather. Got myself and two pies and one pumpkin cheesecake over to the folks' by about 3. My brother's family wasn't far behind, and my SIL's parents arrived a little after 4. And we all had a lovely meal, and some interesting discussions, and a lively good time. Our many, many blessings are actually so numerous it's hard to count, but I think we did a good job of trying, and of expressing our gratitude. Also we ate absolutely TONS of food. Lordy.

Afterward I crashed the party at snidegrrl and bizarrojack's place, which was totally awesome. I got to see both their folks and MsT and NC and Mary and it was just really cool. Sorry I missed MsT's family, but they had a long drive home! Hung out and chatted for about 45 minutes, then headed home to hang with the kitties briefly and climb into bed with a hot water bottle. Oh, I finally turned on the heat on Wednesday. What can I say, on the 9th floor with a SE exposure, I get a lot of ambient heat from other sources. But the chill's really setting in now. Might also be time for the big comforter.

Related note: heat at work still not working.

Hope all of you had fine holidays with friends and loved ones! If you have some time, please come here and post entertaining things to help me through the looong workday.

I'm pretty sure I've done this one before, and got the same result, but what the heck:

Katharine Hepburn
You scored 11% grit, 28% wit, 57% flair, and 14% class!

You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.
