maire threw a bbq yesterday afternoon.
after fixing my first gear at the wayward bike shop (thanks to the help of a caffiene-free dude named joseph and his awesome dog henry) i was ready to go.
i had no real intention of biking all the way to rainier beach, the longest i've biked non-stop is to golden gardens. this takes me about two hours.
jack and i decided to bike to pacific street to catch the 48 because traffic in the ud was backed up so bad (due to the uw graduation) but it didn't come, and we didn't want to wait.
i bought a push pop and then we headed up the hill. we stopped in the cd to eat a pie jack's sister had made and then went to catch the 48. we missed it.
then in the id we missed the 7 so we decided to bike the rest of the way. it took 4 hours total! it was amazing and disorienting all at the same time. we kept reaching dead ends and freeway ramps and then ended up discovering alternative routes to take.
once we reached the bbq we were very hungry and thirsty, but it made the feast even more awesome. like we had worked for it. and i had so much energy!
today was cool, we saw a coachella documentary and drank free coffee. i have been so crazy busy i really want some time to chill and just read and or day dream. i feel really excited about the summer and my newly found biking stamina. exploring the south end was really fun, there is so much of this city that i have never really seen (at least not since my childhood). this summer will be great.
