Hey girls, long time no post. I've been taking a break these last few months since I've had so much going on. Here's a quick rundown of what I've be up to;
Moving, let's just say moving day was hell, Harvey was a spaz, and I'm glad that's over! But it's been like living in a resort ever since. The place is beautiful, very roomy, and I've been cooking up a storm. Piccadilly loves it here, our favourite spot is on the balcony. She watches the birds (lunch), and I enjoy the flowers I've planted in flower boxes I hung from the railing. At night Harv joins us so we can catch up on each other's day, we have dinner, then hit the hot tub or pool that's just across the street. On the weekends we've gone to the beach, checked out local resturants, or just hung out at home.
Patrick brought his girlfriend, Jimena, home to visit, and Ian brought his girl Julianne up and we all had a wonderfull time. She'd never been to Disneyland, so it was a treat to see her reaction, she was like a little girl, too cute! I really like her. She's smart, funny, intelligent, and she doesn't take any guff from Patrick. My kind of girl! Patrick was promoted to manager at Starbucks and is opening a store for them, but he is planning on going back to Georgetown in the fall. Ian is also working for Starbucks, and hopes to be made assistant manager soon. He's also going back to school in San Diego. Yeah!
My best friend Maha's long time boyfriend passed away, so I spent some time in Sacramento with her helping with the funeral and everything. It was sad, but he was sick for a long time. I did get to spend some time with him and her in January, and I'm so glad I made that trip now. He and I had a chance to spend a lot of time together. He was a true Irishman, a total bullshitter, funny as hell, but one of the nicest men I've ever known.
Meggie came out to visit a few weeks ago. She looks wonderfull, and we had the best time! I was a little nervous, but she was her old sweet self. I tried to encourage her to focus on her future a little more, she'd just been doing babysitting jobs, and I think it worked. She's applyed for a job with the postal service, and is studying for the test. She told me yesterday that she and her boyfriend have moved in to a townhouse together. He's forty, six years younger than Harvey, but she said he treats her like a queen, so I will just have to deal with it. One thing I've learned is that age shouldn't be an issue in a relationship.
My dad did end up having heart surgery, but he's doing great now and I'm so relieved! He went back to work just a few days after the operation.
I had brunch with Harvey's parents on father's day. I didn't really want to go, I was specifically NOT invited to a family wedding they had in Las Vegas in May, but I told Harvey that I would give him a pass on that one. I personally would not have gone if the shoe were on the other foot. But Harvey said he would be upset if I didn't go. Hum... The first thing his dad said was "You dyed your hair." WTF!!! I said yes, I dye my hair, but it's the same shade.
Then his mom made a comment about how none of the oldest sons in the family are married. Uncomfortable moment, to say the least. Then his dad asked me what I do during the day. I'm not stupid so I knew what he was putting me on the spot. I didn't think it was his buisness, so I just said I moved to late to register for school (true) and let it drop. He's laided off from his job, I wonder how he would have reacted to me asking what he did during the day. :/ I was a little put out that Harvey didn't step in to my rescue when he said that he thought his dad was out of line. His father pulled the same thing with his last girlfriend. I let him know that that doesn't wash with me, and if he wants me to socialize with his parents he has to have my back. All in all, it was okay if not all that much fun.
I stole my laptop back from Ian, so I can post more while I'm sitting out on the patio. It's going to take awhile to get up to speed but, I hope to be posting a bit more with you girls. I'd love to have a Ewanfest before the summer is out, so anyone who is interested let me know!
