last stages of Mercury transit

Bunch of pix this time, so I'll stick them behind an lj-cut.

It gets pretty windy around here in the afternoons, but I was able to get some decent shots in between gusts. As before, click on each image for full size image, 4048x3040 ~4.3 MB each.

16:07 PST: It's getting harder to make it out, but it's still there (more obviously so on the full-size image):

I think I can convince myself that notch in the full size image here is Mercury and not merely an image artifact:

16:08 PST: Theoretically Mercury should still be visible on the edge of the sun, as third contact (internally tangent) should be right about now, but resolving it exceeds the reach of the observing site/equipment/conditions.

Of course you can Google for images, movies etc. pertaining to today's transit; one site is the National Solar Observatory at Kitt Peak, AZ which includes a movie of Mercury crossing in front of a solar prominence before crossing the solar disk!
