The Onion: General Mills Releases New Lucky Charms With 15 Percent Less Leprechaun Meat

Heh. Coincidentally I had recently been trying to remember* the different marshmallow colors, so this provided additional impetus to visit Wikipedia.

Before looking, did you know:

- the original marshmallow shapes and colors?

- that only one of the original marshmallows is still in the cereal today?

* I live off of the Blue Diamond exit of I15, and couldn't remember if that was the color of the diamond in Lucky Charms. It is, but it also wasn't one of the original shapes -- it was introduced in 1975. But since I was born in the early 70s I don't remember a time when it didn't have diamonds :-) The funny thing is we never ate Lucky Charms in our house; I just remember the ads. I distinctly remember the TV campaign when they introduced purple horseshoes in 1984.

I wonder if I need a cereal-ads-of-the-80s tag yet.
