Yesterday Sarah/Tameko/pet names of an obscenely cute nature that I won't utter here and I had a 6 month anniversary. And it was good (quoth the Lord). We didn't do anything special, but we did eat at
Kuta Grille, up in the Foothill Ranch Town Center. 'Twas rather tasty (big fat stack of ribeye, and Tameko had a gumbo that was scrum-diddly-umptious), and they had a pretty decent beer selection (standard non-crap like Guinness and Bass, with local brews like Anchor Steam and Stone). Their happy hour is M-F 4-6:30, with $3 pints. Seems reasonable. Happy hour all night Thursday too.
Saturday we went to Knott's, free company picnic with Tameko's company. Free food (tasteless as it was), and free admission = good times. Went on Silver Bullet, suspended coaster. It was smooth, pretty fun, had a gnarly helix that made me blackout a little (I love it). Got crowded, decided to leave earlish. Went swimming in her mom's pool. She has a saltwater cleaning system, no chlorine. Pretty slick. Then a free steak dinner. BBQ smells so good. And tastes just that much better.
We also toured an apartment complex in Huntington, down Brookhurst, about a block from the ocean. Seems like a winner. They had an apartment we wanted available on the exact date we wanted to move in (Sept 8th). Seemed destined. Place is called Casa del Sol, but they don't seem to have a web presence. A little older, but spacious, and, y'know, OCEAN. Keeps things cool, and awesome.
Interviewed for a new job on Thursday. It's another tech support position, but it's tech support for a data warehousing company in Aliso Viejo (
DATAllego). The job is not based on password resets and stuff like that, but diagnosing and troubleshooting data warehouse installations. It's much more technical, and I'd be talking with system admins, DBAs, guys like that. Job requires some SQL, Linux, and Java knowledge. So while I still wouldn't be coding, or designing, or whatever, at least I'd be working with smart people in an actual IT company. Seems like a better way to get on up in the world. The interview went well, the tech people I talked to seemed optimistic (but the decision is in the support boss's hands). I hope to hear good news sometime tomorrow.
In, uh, opposite-of-lighter news, I think I am officially exhibiting symptoms of being a Fat Guy™. I mean, I've been big and out of shape for, like, ever, but now: I'm constantly hot, much more easily out of breath, my clothes don't fit, etc etc. I should really reverse this. Etc.
EDIT, ADDENDUM, ETC: Our pet names always have something to do with food...
