Job
Had a job interview last Friday for a QA position. Went well, I believe. I was the first interviewed for the position, so I will most likely not hear back for a few weeks, but I am hopeful. When should I contact them? 2 weeks hence?

Movies
This has been a much improved summer over 2006, despite the plethora of tentpole crap that always comes out during summer. Compare:

2006
  • Mission Impossible: III - most awesome opening scene ever. Then JJ Abrams decided that the studios knew best. OOPS.
  • Cars - Pixar's most trite movie to date. Not abjectly terrible, but really, it's their worst movie.
  • Superman Returns - Bryan Singer should've stayed with X-Men 3. The film was alright, but really somewhat tepid and not all that inspiring.
  • X-Men: The Last Stand - WTF Brett Ratner DIAF plzkthx.
  • Pirates 2: Dead Man's Chest - okay, fine, this was better than Pirates 3.
  • Talladega Nights - fuck this movie was terrible. I laughed once.
2007 (thus far)
  • The Unholy Trilogy of Pirates 3, Spiderman 3, and Shrek 3 - Okay, May was fucking terrible.
  • Knocked Up - Thank you, Judd Apatow. You make comedy fun and sweet again. 2-for-2, keep it rolling.
  • Ratatouille - Brad Bird deserves so many Oscars, it's not funny anymore. Not quite better than The Incredibles, but really, I'm saying that K2 is not quite as high as Mt. Everest.
  • Live Free or Die Hard - So someone figured out how to make an action movie exciting again? Farkin' ridiculous plot, PG-13, "Yippee-kay-yay" censored, and it was still amazing.
  • Transformers - Shia LeBeouf (spelling optional) is a silly leading man, no one cares about the humans, Prime's a jackass, and apparently aliens hack the intarwebs over radio. But good god what a rush. I mean, seriously, WHAT A FUCKING RUSH.
I believe they will be officially be updating Webster's to reflect the following:
bombast ('bäm-"bast)
  1. pretentious inflated speech or writing
  2. Michael Bay
In summary: 2006 had no excitement, no reason to care about the movies. 2007 is bringing the crazy back. Hollywood is on an upswing yet again.

Magic
Most expensive block format ever =( Every deck runs Tarmogoyf or the UB Teachings/Tendrils package. I think I'll play the red deck splashing Korlash (maybe even sans Damnation to save $$$) and just say "fuck it".

Life Upcoming
Going to Greg's for the 4th, then Temecula for wine tasting with Sarah's friends this weekend. Will get Peony's if I can swing it. Hope it's still good. Then I got weddings for two weekends straight. Then ... I don't know until late August, when I'm San Francisco bound.
