Texas Indonesia Tallahassee
I just found out I'm having guests from Texas on Wednesday. The house is a wreck and I have to find time to clean it. Ack! It just happens I have rehearsals tonight and Tuesday night. I've gotten permission to leave work early one day this week to attack the mess.
Our friend D has been a regular guest at Thanksgiving, but last year he married a woman from Indonesia and will be bringing her with him. I have never met her and hubby has only met her once - on their wedding day. I don't even know what she looks like, really, except that she is short and has black hair. I'm going to read up on Indonesia before then. I know almost nothing about it. I don't plan on making any dorky conversation about it ("So, how about them Indonesians?"), but I feel like knowing about it will keep me safe from embarrassing myself and perhaps provide a subject for small talk, should the need arise. It shouldn't be bad. D has been coming here for T'giving for 5 or 6 years now and I have gotten to know him pretty well (he's a friend of hubby's from high school).
I just saw some pics of the nephew taken more recently and he's frickin' awesome. Looks like his dad, but with the round cheeks that my sister and I have inherited from generations of ancestors on my dad's side (goes back at least to my paternal grandmother). Sis says he's growing really fast. I have not gotten to see him for a week and a half because of my pathetically sick husband. I didn't catch whatever he had, but I didn't want to take the chance of passing along any germs to the little critter. A gallon of milk weighs 8 pounds. Nephew weighed 4.5 the last time I saw him. So tiny!
