Just got back from Watchmen. My verdict? While I probably can't 100% comment until I see it one or two more times, I think I can say that it was okay. I don't think it does anything to hurt the source material (necessarily - more on that in a moment), and it does nothing to elevate it, either. It tells the story. Oscars? BULLCRAP. Dark Knight and Wall-E so, so, so totally deserved to be up for best picture. By far. Bull. Crap.

We all know Heath will win Best Supporting, though. I mean, he has to.

One surprise that I wasn't expecting, however: Robert Downey Jr. for Tropic Thunder? I mean, yeah, but, really?

Let's see what I can get through over my weekend

I have decided that the best thing about not giving a shit about most big movies is that it means that, on a day like today when I am home sick and bored, I can download something like Spider-man 3 and watch it. Even the shitty ones are still way better than something you'd see on TV at 3 in the afternoon, full of commercials.

Iron Man was fucking awesome. Dark Knight in two months. This is going to be a really good year to be a comic book fan. Jesus. I really hope Marvel rides this wave and does the next few movies this weill. DC totally fucking raised the bar with Batman Begins, and Iron Man met it.
