Royal Kid Week, and other things
Today, the Royal Sprog received his name: George Alexander Louis. My first reaction: YUCK! Given that one of his most infamous pop cultural namesakes is one George Costanza*, I predicted numerous atomic wedgies for the poor kid once he starts school.
My own choices were as follows:
But then I came across this article describing the Royal Sprog's name's Seinfeldian connections. "George," of course, invokes memories of George Costanza, Jerry's BFF and, yes, atomic wedgie recipient. The actor who played George on the show is Jason Alexander. The actress who played Elaine Benes is Julia Louis-Dreyfuss; also George Costanza's middle name is Louis. (FWIW, Elaine's middle name is Marie.) So maybe I don't feel totally bad for little Prince Can't-Stand-Ya.
And, in the event anyone is wondering how George Costanza would have reacted....
*Also George Dubya Bush, and his father George Herbert Walker Bush.

- Butch. When Diana was pregnant with William, Berkeley Breathed wrote a Bloom County series where Charles was trying to persuade Diana to let him name the kid "Butch." (A girl would have been named "Fanny.")
