I was disappointed that PJ Kwong didn't mention Tonya Harding (or would that be Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan). Tonya and Nancy at least drew some interest to the sport. In fact, Beverley Smith attributed a drop of interest in figure skating in 2003 to a lack of Tonya-esque drah-ma. (I'd actually chalk it up to miniscule media coverage - and Canada's is better than the United States' - and the cost of getting in to seeing some events. It's actually relatively cheap to see competitions - when we get them here - but shows like Stars on Ice, which feature past and current skaters, are ridiculously pricey.)
