The U2 concert was incredible.
Not that I ever had any doubts. :-)
The "claw" was very cool-looking and the light show was spectacular, notably during "Until the End of the World" and "The Unforgettable Fire" and "City of Blinding Lights."
Speaking of which, those last two songs were back to back and oh my God they were amazing. So beautiful and the lights seemed to almost touch the stage. Even though Bono forgot the words to the beginning of COBL (what would a U2 show be without some missed/forgotten vocals? *g*), it didn't detract at all from the song.
"Ultraviolet" was all kinds of awesome -- I went apeshit with excitement when I saw the Achtung Baby baby on the screen again. The acoustic version of "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" surprised me, and I liked the remix of "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" much better than I thought I would.
Overall I thought the band sounded awesome and they were having fun -- Bono pegged Edge with his towel at the end of "Until the End of the World" in a hilarious moment. Larry with his conga strolling the ramp was most awesome, and Adam was cool, collected, and fantastic as always.
The opening act, Muse, was very very good too. I wish now I had bothered to download more of their songs beforehand. (And
floridacarol, I was wrong. The drummer and singer are not brothers after all.)
Earlier today Carol and I went to Giordano's in Brandon and had deep dish pizza, and that too was excellent as expected. Afterward we went to a used bookstore that just seemed to keep going -- every time I finished with one room, I discovered another one that opened just off it. I could have happily spent hours there.
(As a side note,
ladyofastolat, they had all the Lymond books at this shop. The original releases. And GOD they had such awful covers!! They all looked like horrid, cheesy, Gothic romances. It was appalling. Not to mention, not a one of them had a Lymond who looked even remotely attractive.)
All in all, it's been a great weekend. :-)
