In which moment do you know your life has turned out to be weird? When exactly are that moment when you sit down and this ‘shit, this is so off!’? For me? It’s about the time when I found out my sister was a vampire slayer. Oh, yeah, and the fact that vampires are real. And so is demon. And magic is much more than bad horror movies. And then you ( Read more... )

I stroll along with Dawn, hands in pockets and smile down at her, she's looking so pleased with herself that I can't help but grin myself.

"So what takes your fancy. What flick are we gonna see? The latest Harry Potter? Some foreign film with unreadable subtitles or a piece of fluff blockbuster?"

"We are not seeing 'Harry Potter'! How old do you think I am? Eleven? Besides, those movies always are boring... Books are better. What? Hey! I do read, you know?" I shake my head and walk in the cinema.

"I vote for 'Mean Girls'. I like Lindsey Lohan. And that film has got no blood and no killing and still has got 'mean' in the title, so..." And it's a chick flick.

I roll my eyes at her protests about Harry Potter. Kids.

"Well, I guess you are paying, so...Mean Girls it is. Sounds like a bloody porno though." I mutter under my breath.

As we walk along I keep an eye out for trouble, shadows moving in the dark. This is Sunnydale after all, things going bump in the night is a regular occurence.

I get us the tickets and popcorn and we both walk in and take seats. Wow! I wonder how long it has been since I last was to a movie. Never less with a guy. I can count Spike as guy right? Not counting him as my date though...

"Could you just shut up?" I say and giggle a little after one more of Spike's comments about the movie. I doubt I will ever be able to go to chick flicks if he keeps this up!

I grin at her and give her a friendly punch on the shoulder. Brat. The movie is not my cup of tea, but Dawn seems to enjoy it and when it's over she slips her hand into the crook of my arm as I lead her out of the cinema. I wonder if she gets lonely without her sister, and with Willow and Tara so wrapped up in each other.

"What now?" I ask once we are back out on the street. "And please don't say the Bronze."

I give him a little pout, but don't really mean it. I'm all good with how it is now. We saw a movie, mind you I actually liked it, and now we're walking down the street and I think I'm actually bouncing a little. I haven't felt this relaxed... for very, very long time.

"Alright, not the Bronze, though it could be fun..." Or not. How fun can the Bronze be to Spike? I mean, lotsa food that he can't get, right? "What else can we do? Walk around the city?" You know it would sound normal in any place besides Sunnydale...

I'm about to reply when I hear a noise behind us. Instantly on alert I motion for Dawn to be silent. We walk a few more yards, tense and searching the darkness for signs of trouble but nothing happens.

I turn to her and shrug.

"False alarm I guess-" The next thing I know I am being bowled over and knocked to the pavement.

This... this is not good! There's demon and it's all over Spike, trying to beat him up and... shit! What in hell am I suppose to do? I can see more of them coming closer. Spike will deal with them I know. He's good at that. But what am I suppose to do? I'll just keep him down. I... I need to run. Yes, that's the plan. I can tell Spike thinks the same.

So, I turn and run. Running is something one needs to be really good in this city. Damn! I hope Spike is ok. I look back and can see him fighting the demons. He is good. I'm not sure what I should do stay here and wait or keep running. So I'm just standing there, frozen, watching from distance as Spike fights and trying to figure what to do. Where to go.

The first demon rakes it's claws across my chest as it pins me to the ground. I grunt and shove the hulking beastie off of me.

Where's Dawn? I panic for a sec, but then spot her running off in the distance. Good girl, I think to myself but then my attention is grabbed by a second demon lunging at me. Where the hell did they come from? I vamp out, pissed now that they've endangered Dawn and spoilt the night out.

"Bad move mate." I growl at the first ugly to jump me, then I snarl and direct a kick at his face.

I'm still standing here and watching Spike fighting. He's winning, not that I'm surprised. He has great moves. He has been teaching me some too lately, but really, all the fighting thing isn't for me. Though, in times like this I really wish it would be my thing.

I hear a scream. A loud scream. And it's not coming from Spike or one of the things he's fighting with. It's human scream. I look around seeing for the first time where I am. I'm besides the cemetery Buffy is buried. The scream came from the cemetery.

I look one more time at Spike. He's busy. What if there's someone being attacked in the cemetery. I... I need to check. I get the stake out from my bag, and yes, I actually do take a stake with me. I get the stake and run in the cemetery. God, I really hope the scream wasn't coming from a newbie vamp...

Pretty soon I have one demon pummeled and senseless on the ground. The other is looking at me like maybe he's not so keen on the fighting after all.

"Well, step up to the plate or run away." I mutter at him, my gaze flicking back to where Dawn is...running into the cemetary. Is she mentally deficient?

"Oy, Dawn!" I call out to her, then reel back when the second demon clocks me. I recover and duck under his next blow. "So, you must be tweedle dumber." I mock as I move into his reach and jab him hard in the gut with my elbow and follow up with a double fisted blow to the back when he doubles over.

Another one bites the pavement. I wipe my face, there's a cut somewhere and I can taste my own blood. I don't have time to finish the job though, Dawn's gone and done a stupid thing. I'll tear her throat out myself if she gets herself killed.

I run after her, trying to catch up. What the hell spooked her?
