Derailing a train of thought

Jun 05, 2011 19:40

I've been waiting to post since soo long!
Well, let's see. I went to GIP today with my parents. This is news because we rarely ever go out together so.

Anyhoo, my mother requested *read, menacingly glared at me, till I got the message* to not listen to music in the car and I *helplessly* complied.
It was fun. Surprisingly. Well there were tons of Baba Ramdev references. Making fun of him, in general. And a wager between me and mom on the success of the film Ready. I bet that it would be successful. I sincerely wish it isn't. Just out of spite. Ha Ha.
Moving on, we reached the mall, and mom and dad dropped me off at the bookstore while they went shopping for clothes. It was like being a kid in Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory. :3
On second thoughts, I'm pretty sure this was my idea of the chocolate factory, when I was a kid. That amuses me.

So, I spent the next hour there. No, really. Actually...wait...i spent 1.5 hours in a bookstore! It was ecstacy ecstaSy * I always forget *:3
And top off the dark-choco-coffee-ice-cream-shake of a trip, I bought not one, not two, not three ... oh what the heck.. FIVE books!!
Me: Asdfkjllg *jumps around room like a kid on a sugar high*
Getting a perfect score in the Boards is proving extremely expensive for my dad :P
But, hey, I didn't ask for it. He told me he was giving me a treat. It would have been plain rude to refuse, right?

So, the books -
1st - Nightrise (#3 Power Of Five) - Anthony Horowitz

Just completing the series really. It's so entirely awesome. Better than the Alex Rider series -in my opinion. Alex Rider kind of lost it's touch after he was sent to space. I'm sorry, I just CAN'T stretch my imagination THAT far. Also, the 2nd book of this series, Evil Star -such an awesome title-  had loads of info about Nazca Lines.Which are AWESOME. And I never knew they existed. Such ignorance I dwell in. *shakes head sadly*
So this should be pretty epic, considering.

2nd - Catching Fire (#2 Hunger Games) - Suzanne Collins
Yes, I've been living under a rock annd as a result, have completely missed out on this amazing series. I haven't read the first one- I haven't had a chance, since it's with my aunt, who's gifting it to me *smirk*- but the review's enough to get me hooked. I mean, mystery story with a female lead? Colour me hooked.

3rd - Day Of The Predator (#2 Time-Riders) - Alex Scarrow
Well, firstly, how awesome is Scarrow as a name? And add Alex to that, and you've got an extremely awesome name. My love for the name Alex ofcourse stems from the Alex Rider series. And an Alexandra person in some book who was pretty awesome. Just can't remember from where though. But I digress. Amazing series that I heard about for the first time, the last time I went to the store. *that's a weird sentence* I've already finished the first one, on account of it being with me and not other realtives, so I went ahead and bough the second one. :D I don't understand why it's not very popular. Or is it? I've never even heard it being mentioned anywhere, and a story about time-travel, you would expect it to be pretty well-known, huh?

4th - Haunting - Chuck Palahniuk
This guy also wrote Fight Club - yes the movie one. His books are apparently very gory. And I just happen to love gory. And I find the Parental Advisory sticker tempting. :P

5th - Chanakya's Chant - Ashwin Sanghi
This was Dancing Jax - Robin Jarsomething until the very last moment, when I spotted Chanakya's Chant. This guy (Sanghi) wrote the Rozabal Line, which, frankly, spoiled all the other conspiracy theory novels that are. It was SO engrossing. Extremely irritating to read though, on account of every page being set in a different time and location. I'm not even exaggerating. One moment you're in some library in England, 2010 where a guy is reading about a priest in India, in 455 BC. Next page, 455 BC, India, the priest and what actually happened to him. Very gripping. Anyhow, something from that sortof writer has to be worth reading (I hope fervently) Here's the Rozabal Line:

I really want to buy Dancing Jax. I looked it up on Goodreads, and it had really amazing reviews. And the cover. Oh! The cover! Here's a pic:

And I also saw this book, I wasn't REALLY interested in the story but the cover was SO amazing. And like the genius that I am, I forgot to note down the name of the book. I guess I'll just have to describe it then. And I hate describing stuff from memory. That's how awesome it was. So, anyway, there was a girl wearing a long flowy black dress, the sort that is worn in horror movies. Her hair was er... what's the word.... well it was slightly messed. * Why can't I remember the bloody word? * Doesn't matter, the picture was SO hauntingly beautiful, I could've kept staring at it the whole time. There was something very magnetic about it. Next time I'll definitely look it up.

Well, dad said that the 5th was spposed to be a computer book, but I couldn't find any Ubuntu based ones so, I guess I'll just have to manage with five storybooks. *shrugs understandingly*
So, then we decided to get some coffee, and drank this Rich Coffee shake thingy. I will never order rich coffee shake. I will never order rich coffee shake. I will never order rich coffee shake.

It was bitter. Very very bitter. I actually added three sugar satchets to it. :[
And I had Mango mousse. Sounds extremely weird, but tastes AWESOME :D

And then when we reached the parking lot, dad * obviously, along with us * realized that he'd
left the headlights and taillights of the car on. Which meant the battery was exhausted. Which meant the car had to be pushed. And so we did. It was fun, really. An adventure all on its own. Then when the car did get started, I pestered dad till he gave in and finally explained why we needed to push it to make the car start.
He finds it extremely weird that I'm so interested in how a car works, but avoid discussing cars ( as in new makes/models.. whatever the hell, really) like the plague. Frankly, I find it weird too. Huh.

Oh and funny conversation:
(after Dad explains the whole car battery charging stuff)
Me: Do you know that when my iPod is working on a really low battery, like 10% or 20%, tab jab I (then when I)-
Mom: * nearly screams * Stop speaking in Hindi, will you. Why do you always have to revert to hindi?
-Silence-
Me: * momentarily stunned, I blink twice * Well, that wasn't out of the blue at all.
*Dad and mum both proceed to burst out laughing while I continue talking, to the car, apparently * And thank you for completely derailing my train of thought. Oh wait, derail, train of thought. Derail, train! That makes so much more sense now! *I'm sad to admit that it's exactly how my er... train of thought went*
And then when the laughter had subsided I went on to tell dad how if you play soft music, your battery charge actually goes up. Seriously, try it out sometime.

Oh wait, I promised you a bitchy post sometime, didn't I? Oh, well, next time. Definitely.

Lots later,
