Razzle Dazzle
So I'm officaly in Chicago Tech Week,and Im pritty sure that I havent really slept well all wee. being in the theater from 5-11 setting up, running the show, rerunning spaciffic parts, and then cleaning up. and me getting out at 11 is like the second group of Crew people to go. So Im happy Im not stage managment cause I dont think they ever leave. and on top of that I had a project due on monday, and a test and project due today. and a quiz on friday. (and there all theater classes, so Im not alone with this wacked out week) But let me tell you folks we went all out with this show. First off its in UT with for all you of you out there stands for Uiniversity Theater (great name huh?) and thats the big procinum stage, with the niffty lowerable pit, which for this show is up and an acting space cause the orchistra is on stage al-la JCS, but behind a black Scrim, which has a starburst light drop (that we made) that can do like 5 or 6 patterns of flahsing lights, and the roxie drop (her name) and that lights up too. so thats a cool effect wehn all of a sudden the black air above the lights from the music stands starts flahsing roxie, next! We have 6 moveing lights in the show. That is mucho sexxy, cause they are the supper light of lights. and well there all on the same batton, so wehn the all move at once (which the do alot) when there done the batton sways everso slightly that if your looking for it onstage you can see the lights wiggle. But when all 6 of them do there thing in the Cell Block Tango, its like the most amazingly thing ever. and well the costumes are hot, and containe alot of laugerie type things, but its chigaco its suposed to be like that. and every last thing that comes onstage, from props, to costumes to the set itself is Black, Red, or Silver. Which just looks cool. And then we have two projection screans on the false procinum that was made. and they look like newspapers. and we have projectons going all the time. from stuff like the name of the song, to a photo-shoped pic of Mary Sunshine as a Dominatrix. to George Bush, Oj Simpson, and Millie Vanilli. oh and my personal favorite, a photo-shoped pic of Roxie in J-lo's famouse green dress, and its my favorite cause Im friends with the girl playing Roxie and, yeah she's no where near anything like J-lo, like she thinks her costume is to reavealing, and she the third most covered girl in the show, fisrt two being the MC and Mary Sunshine. But Dispite all the tireing-ness of it, the show is really fun, and really good. The cast is alot of fun and make so many jokes backstage that are great, and the crew, (ie the shift crew, props, and Costume) ussualy start danceing backstage. cause well were bored and the music is way to catchy tonight from like A little bit of Good, to They Both Reached for the gun it was stupid dance move night. We did everything from the shopping cart to the lawn mower to the sprinkler and for they both reached for the gun they all worked way to perfectly. and then durring Class, we got pritty colorful with "actions" that went with it. Seriously folks, this is the show were every day after a practice you can go around the theater departement and find that everyone has a differnt song from it stuck in there head, and yet their not really complaining. And thats what's going on and its all over on Sunday. Then I can think about Thanksgiving and Chirstmas. Wow were already on that.
