I would like to express my pride that, at least according to CNN, Vermont gave Obama his first three electoral votes. Hell yeah, Vermont. You rock on with your tiny self.
So, voting. I voted last year, but no one really cared, because, come on, it's an odd numbered year. Whatever. I also voted in the primaries, which is important, but isn't VOTING, you know? This is the first time I've voted for President or Senate. There was no line -- I was starting a cookie as I walked in and had to rush to finish it by the time I handed in my ballot. Also, guys, voting is fun. It appeals to my love of surveys. (When I finished, the MPIRG folks asked me to take a survey ABOUT voting, which is just double the fun.) Today has been great -- I would say 70% of the people I've seen today are proudly wearing I Voted stickers, and those who aren't mostly either voted absentee and are lamenting their lack of stickers or aren't American. I talked to a friend of mine from the Czech Republic today and she said she wanted an I WOULD Vote sticker. The Democratic group on campus set up a bouncy castle with entrance granted to those with stickers and MPIRG handed out balloon animals and did facepainting. Until recently, my face said "Vote" in three places, but it was very itchy so I took it off. MPIRG is really just a bunch of badasses -- they also had a stand near the polling place where you could read about the judges, because even though people knew who they were voting for for President and Senate and House, they pretty much knew nothing about the judges. Cool beans.
Tonight I'm going to go to my knitting club, where we will watch results, and then the big party the Democratic club is putting on.
