I miss watching MASH. I use to catch several episodes on TV when they would come on Halmark, but we don't get that channel atm. Legally, should couldn't be given anything to make her die. Under the law, that would be murder (or at the very least, manslaughter). It would be killing her. By removing the feeding tube, it's not considered killing her. Rather, it's letting her die. There's a legal distinction, because in this country, assisted suicide is illegal. A doctor isn't allowed to do anything to make a death quicker than is natural. He may stop extending life artificially, but he can't end it.
But in the case, humane isn't really an issue. The woman is completely unresponsive to pain and has been for more than a decade. Except for her brain stem, the most primitive part of the brain that allows for breathing and heartbeat, her brain is completely gone. Simply put: she doesn't know that this is happening to ( ... )
