Answers to Questions

A couple of weeks ago I asked for suggestions for things to write about.  Here are my answers...

1) Stuff and Shit
I searched for this and came up with http://stuffandshitiscool.blogspot.co.uk/
It's a blog with a few game reviews and a couple of articles about music.  Nothing too exciting, but I think I've acquitted myself with regards to this question :)

2) Where I'm travelling to next
Chile!
I'm travelling to Chile for 3 weeks at the end of the year, going to Santiago, the Atacama desert, and Easter Island.

3) Joy Division B Sides and Fireworks
What counts as a Joy Division B side?  Let's not count re-releases, so the only singles released at the time were Transmission, Atmosphere, Love Will Tear Us Apart, and  Komakino.  The B sides for these were Novelty, Dead Souls, These Days, and Incubation and As You Said respectively.  There was also a EP called An Ideal for Living with four songs: Warsaw, No Love Lost, Leaders of Men, and Failures.  I've always said (because it comes up that often) that No Love Lost is my favourite Joy Division B side, BUT in researching the answer to this question I've discovered that No Love Lost was actually on side A.  Is it even a B side if it was on side A?!

The B side for LWTUA also includes an alternate version of LWTUA.  Apparently Ian Curtis was trying to sound like Frank Sinatra in the A side version.

When was the last time I heard LWTUA?  At the Paralympics.  It seemed a bit odd having the winner run round with that song playing in the background, something not quite appropriate.  The only other time I saw any part of the Olympics or Paralympics in real life was when I was on the balcony, looking out over the Olympic stadium in Stratford, watching the...
Fireworks!

I've got used to fireworks now, but until fairly recently I couldn't stand them.  I'm a bit jumpy at the best of times, so any time around November 5th I would always go out playing loud music through headphones.  I was quite into Joy Division by then, so it's highly likely that I listened to a Joy Division B side or two while I was trying to evade the fireworks.

There you go.  Done!
