(still working on the pix for the photo meme)
I want to extend a virtual shout-out to the state's best employee. I spent hours trying to get a call in to the state's unemployment office (EDD, aka the 9th circle of hell). About 4/5 of the calls wouldn't go through at all (the lines were that busy with my fellow laid-off citizens). Once I could get in, I navigated the phone tree only to learn that there were too many callers already on hold. This happened over 20 times. After a few hours of this I FINALLY got through to a live human being and, ladies and gentlemen, I hit the jackpot.
Not only did she adjust my status (from on furlough to laid-off), she also fixed the problem that had caused them to stop my checks & cancelled my scheduled phone interview. And can we get a BOOYAH for any bureaucrat who helps people out?
EDD lady: "So, when you ticked 'no' on that form for the week of Feb 7, that was BY MISTAKE and you'd like me to CORRECT THAT MISTAKE, right?" [said in tones of nice lady hitting me with a clue-by-four]
EM: "Um, yeah, I ticked 'no' by mistake, so, um, please correct that"
EDD lady: "OK! Let me walk that over to the other end of the office so we can get that going ASAP. Your check should arrive soon -"
EM: SWOON
Nice EDD lady, I love you!
