Home, Sweet Home

Lately, I have been kind of homesick.

I don't know if that makes sense, but hear me out.

I like my neighborhood.
I like the size of our apartment.
I like our big back yard.
I like that it takes me 15 minutes to get to work.
I like that it's so close to A LOT of things.

BUT, I miss Anaheim. Wait, isn't Orange a much better city to live in? Yes and no. Yes it's 'safer' and yes it has historic charm, but Anaheim is thriving! It has it's own ballet company, venues, museums and is culturally rich. Orange lacks that community feel for me. Orange feels so dead to me, and I felt so ALIVE living in Anaheim.

I also think Orange is way too expensive. Our rent alone is $1500 a month, not including a single utility, which monthly is about $110-$125 for 2 people! Am I cheap? No, I just think it's unfair how a lot of my friends out of state OWN 2-3 bedroom HOUSES for that amount (or less). I know the luxury of living in Orange County/Southern California, but this is ridiculous.

I'm not going to lie, I was ecstatic to move to a bigger place, even though it cost a bit more, and even on my paycheck alone, it's manageable. But now that I'm here, I miss my old apartment SO badly. If it hadn't been because a bad neighbor with a criminal record (which coincided with my garage being broken into) moved in, we'd probably still live there. It wasn't glamorous, but it was comfortable, financially more than do-able and close to everything. Could it have used some repairs/touch-ups? Yes. If we had been able to get the 2br there (& remove the crazy neighbor), I probably wouldn't have moved at all and just saved to buy a home.

Our lease is up in August, and I REALLY don't want to move again, not until maybe the beginning of next year, but we'll see. I definitely miss Anaheim, it's culture and that Disney pays for a large percentage of the cities utilities. Did I mention Anaheim is home to Disneyland? Yeah, nuff said.
