Happy Home

Yesterday started just like any other weekend at our home.

Wake up, make some coffee, start b-fast, steal kisses or poke fun at one another, watch tv, and relax.

After dinner James asked me if I wanted to go on a walk with him and even though I had been to the gym earlier, I dragged myself into the bedroom to put some jeans on. I slipped into my flip flops and we started our walk. I always love our late afternoon walks when the sun is setting and we're just picking our brains. The topic of the evening: Cats. James loves cats. Ok, I take that back, James ADORES cats like no other person I know.... and I am the same, but with dogs. I kept saying "If we got a cat, do you think bunny would attack it?" and things of the sort. Lo and behold, as we get to the corner where we turn back home, there is a lady with a box who is frantic and obviously disturbed. As she turns over, she has a chest full of kittens clinging to her shirt and she is going on and on to her husband and son about how people have no heart (amen sistah) and I pulled on James and said "Look, Kittehs!" and we both walked up as she motioned us to come closer to her garage and there were meows and cries and tons of TINY itty, bitty kittens. She had just gotten home and there was a box on her driveway with 4 kittens in it. Her husband was on his cell phone calling about a drop off to the animal shelter and they were both upset. This lady is obviously in love with animals because she is fuming about how someone could leave these tiny little babies out on someone's driveway. Mind you, I have been in her situation 3 too many times, so knew the feeling. There was a tiny little black cat with white paws, feet, chest and a tiny line on his head with gorgeous blue eyes. He is meowing his heart out and clawing his way to my voice. I grab him and he is climbing all over me. He is pressing his face into me, rubbing his little face all over my shirt. Clearly, this little guy had instincts on winning hearts over. I handed him over to James as I talked to the lady (I just realized I never got her name) and this cat was giving his loving to James. I could clearly see that James was sold just when she asked, "Do you guys want to take one home?" and I knew I couldn't. I told her how I lived right next door in the apartments and that I wasn't sure. I looked over at James and I asked him what his thoughts were and his half smile said it all, but he knew it had to be a shared WANT and I knew I couldn't give that little black kitten back. So we took him home.

Mozart.

We have high hopes for him. He's tiny and still shakes when he walks. He sucked on tuna and gave a few licks to milk off my finger. Damn Labor Day and their closing hours. Today I will go get him a bottle, some formula and kitty stuff. He slept with us because he cried every minute he was away from my voice or scent. James calls me his surrogate mother because this little guy can't stand being away from me. I was kinda sad to leave him this morning. I got up to make coffee and he curled up in James' neck. When I came back he wasn't there. James jumped up and started moving blankets around because we couldn't see him. He had climbed over to my side of the bed and gotten in between my pillows. My heart jumped back into place.

We're probably going to be those crazy couples who have a ton of different animals.
Knowing this actually makes my heart soar with happiness :D
