In other news, I have attempted to use the atomic force microscope. By "attempted," I mean that I did the things that are supposed to work, but in spite of going through a good half-dozen spare cantilevers that other people had left me, none seemed to work correctly. (If you can see the sample better using light without magnification than with your microscope, something's off.) Attempt #2 will follow a purchase of appropriate cantilevers...
