So, I have Windows Vista (Ultimate, even) now. And it is all kinds of awesome. It's so shiny and pretty and fancy. I really don't know why people have complained so much. I even bought the upgrade version, which was supposed to have tons of problems, even more so than the clean install version. But mine installed without a hitch and it's run perfectly; the only trouble I had was that it wouldn't display the preferred resolution for my monitor (1440x900) at first, but that was quickly remedied by downloading the Vista-supported drivers for my video card.
It was a bit of hassle actually getting it, though. We buy it on a family trip to Best Buy, and it's fortunate that I'm a highly impatient person because I open the package on the way home only to discover that there is, in fact, nothing inside. So we drop Kendal off at home because she has work later and drive all the way back. Luckily, the service at the Best Buy is good, and I soon have a shiny new copy of Vista Ultimate in my possession. The old one must've gotten stolen out of the package, 'cause the new one had a second security thing on it that the first one didn't.
Also, the Order of the Phoenix movie: totally freaking awesome. The actors are fantastic - the trio are better than ever, especially Dan Radcliffe, who is also amazingly hilarious in real life, and Imelda Staunton and Evanna Lynch are PERFECT as Umbridge and Luna. Yates does a fantastic job directing, and the DA and Department of Mysteries scenes are incredible. The dialog is occasionally a bit cheesy, but that's my only complaint.
My major praise is this: It's the first of the movies where I felt like some of the stuff they added made it better. In previous movies, there had been occasions where they outright changed things instead of just omitting stuff, but none of those changes really were for the better (not that they were for the worse, necessarily). But I felt some of the changes in this one were great; in particular, when Sirius says "Nice one, James!" to Harry in the Dept. of Mysteries. It's great because it perfectly expresses everything unhealthy in their relationship in one line.
Also on the subject of HP: DEATHLY HALLOWS IN LESS THAN A WEEK OMGWTFAWESOME. KENDAL SAYS THEY'VE ALREADY GOT THE BOOKS IN THE STORE.
Many awesome video games coming out later this year. Short list: Metroid Prime 3, Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin's Creed, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's gonna be a good year for gaming.
