Marking Time

I've moved, by the way. It's been three weeks and I'm finally getting around to making the official log entry. My place is in the Freret neighborhood close to Tulane. It's sort of the semi-crummy part of Uptown, but Uptown nonetheless. Freret had some hard times the last couple decades but seems poised for a resurgence. I'm right around the corner from the apparently well-known college bar "Friar Tuck's."

Unfortunately I don't seem to know as many people here as I seemed to think. I've got a fair bit of family but no friends. That's okay though, since most days I can't motivate myself to do much but stare into whichever glowing rectangle is closest. I had forgotten that I don't like living alone. My apartment hunt focused on getting a garage for my toolz & VW (surely one day I'll get around to doing something with it...) but in hindsight I should have tried for a place with room to grow. Anyway.

Arrr, the Sea
Nevermind all that, what I need is a job. With a little luck I should be back at work by the end of the month. I'm looking forward to the simplicity of having nothing to do but work eat and sleep. Wait...subtract work and that's all I do now...but somehow it's different at sea. With no reason to go rushing home the first chance I get, I might even manage to do the recommended 120 days all at once. My only concern is the bum knee that plagued me last time. It hasn't really gotten better. But I need to work before I have medical coverage... Apparetly I'm getting too old for manual labor. Why the fock am I still an oiler?
