Friday was the "new employees have breakfast with the company president" day. Was very nice presentation of the company's recent success and near future goals (he's a great guy.) Everyone in the room kept waiting for me to speak first...I should feel flattered, right ( Read more... )

I have a job, which I start in a week.  It pays well, and they gave me Pennsic off with pay as well.  I get to stay in the area, which is a very nice thing.

I could be dancing, but my feet cannot find the ground for some reason.

Seems that dreams and hopes are like water... the tighter you try to hold on to them, the faster they escape through your fingers.  I still find myself without occupation, which is distressing to say the least ( Read more... )

Monday's fun:

I had an interview to do the same job that I had before I came to Pittsburgh.  Wednesday they called for references.  That would be a 50 mile round trip each day from where I am now, but a doable thing as I will be moving against the normal traffic flow.  My old boss says he knows folks there, so that may help.

I have the next CIA torture idea, sure to get anyone to spill their guts:

The formula job interview.  "Tell me about a time when..."

I've been trained for this.  I can resist.  I will make it through to the offer... I hope.

(I'm trying to make light of the depressing situation.  It just hurts too much to cry.)

This company I was interviewing with, all three of the senior guys are complimenting me on my maturity (as in I've got 10 years on the oldest one.)

They seem nice...

But when did maturity become a selling point?

(Why did I have to get old so soon?)

My work here is done.

That was my final email at the office today. They did eliminate my position.

I'd try to drown my sorrows, but they are such strong swimmers!

Today was miserable, as we are all sure to lose our jobs tomorrow...according to the rumors flying around.

If nothing else, it was fun while it lasted.

Except my wrist really hurts.
