Looking back at the list, I realize that I'd have a really hard time pinning down a favorite. There aren't really any books on the list that I didn't like, even if some of them were terribly written *coughtwilightseriescough* there was still something to them that I enjoyed. If I were to recommend only a handful, I suppose I might say the following:
If you want a funny book, read Good Omens or any of the other Terry Pratchett books, or if you want short essays, Me Talk Pretty One Day is great.
Daughters of the North and A Thousand Splendid Suns were both very thought provoking and I enjoyed them thoroughly, but don't read them if you're feeling a bit depressed of late, as they certainly won't make things better.
I love Phillippa Gregory's historical fiction, and I'm looking forward to reading her newest in the Boleyn vein once my sister finishes her copy and I can borrow it.
And, now that I'm completely into book-mode...I'm going to go work at Barnes and Noble today, and will attempt not to spend more than my paycheck on new books, especially since I still have a bit of a stack waiting for me.
Let's aim for another 40-45 books in 2009 :)
