Mmmm, pancakes:

The kid ate an entire pancake! He was a proper Canadian and had it with a touch of maple syrup. The fact that the pancakes were ten-grain with blueberries didn't seem to faze him at all. They were just as delicious. I'm trying to teach him early to turn up his nose at anything too highly processed. This is my plan anyway . . .

My friend Liz went with me to a La Leche League meeting a few months ago. At the beginning of the meeting, there was an "icebreaker" question that everyone had to answer: What was your favourite food as a child? Liz's mother, who was a LLL leader for about ten or fifteen years, is very passionate about healthy, all-natural foods. So when Liz was responding to this question, she explained her mother's passion and then said: "So, yeah, my favourite food growing up was pretty much anything I ate at my friends' houses." Ha! So now that I'm morphing into a similar type of mother, I can imagine Benjamin coming home from his first sleepover with a comment like, " . . . and we had the best pancakes ever for breakfast!!!"

Ah, well.
