.) My enactment of a robust-instruction social studies curriculum was a great success! Yes, for those of you coming in late--I ran a mock slave auction improvisation activity with 25 third graders in one of the scariest neighborhoods in inner-city Boston. It was a huge success. Kids really had deep connections with the activity--and despite the fact that they all were grappling with some really difficult feelings--they kept wanting more! Seriously--they begged me to repeat the activity at recess, free time, and next week instead of going to see the nutcracker (haha). I was starting to doubt myself after dealing with the total asshole that is Bill--and all of his commentary on the PC-ness and "accessibility" of my activity. Well fuck you Bill--I told you kids could be trusted to own their own learning--and put forth quality work in high-pressure situations. You can suck it.
.) I wrote for approx. 3 hours yesterday on Antebellum America/The civil war/Reconstruction. Not of my choice mind you. My lefty-ness showed off my black pinky and blade of my hand. But I'm done with effing American history courses for the rest of my adult life. For this, I am truly thankful.
.) Went on a serious shopping spree at the liquor store yesterday night. Ha. Let the holidays begin for Ashley and I with a Disarono on the rocks--and a bone.
.) Going out to dinner w/mum and pop at a Persian restaurant today! Daniel's been a downright terror--and finally my parents are beginning to realize how fucking much I've done for them over the years--in turn showing some damn appreciation. Karma--works in my favor.
.) Our decemberween tree (complete with presents underneath) makes me so fucking happy.
.) I'm trying to think of what the fuck to do with my hair--I am open to suggestions--but in dire need of change.
.) Who of all my friends from other states are going to come visit over break? We have a spare room now--a huge apartment in a nice neighborhood--lots of booze, good food, and movies to keep everyone happy!
