Been hooked onto this game - playing the version Monster Hunter 2 - Freedom (MH2F) on the PSP. It takes a lot of skill, patience and knowledge to be a good hunter. Got to understand how the monster behaves to anticipate its attacks, exploit its weaknesses such as elemental damage and vulnerable spots, and sneak in some damage inbetween its attacks or time to plant a trap or bomb. You have to collect different items to combine into other items you need. You have to upgrade your weapons and armour. You have to develop a farm to get the aforesaid items. You have to manage an inventory and some employees who cook for you under your charge.

There's an assortment of weapon types to choose from (melee to ranged), from the big-ass greatsword to the fast dual swords to bowguns. All in the name of the hunt! I wonder if its the vestigial Neantherdal in me who wants to pick up a big hunting horn and boink some animal on the head with it. But then again, it is actually a rather cerebral game. Quite complex and requires a lot of strategy for an action game. Definitely not for the faint-hearted nor minded.
