Have I ever mentioned how much I love weekends? I only worked 8 hours on Saturday and then took Sunday off and it was FANTASTIC. The weather stayed beautiful all weekend and I got to spend some q/t with the boy, which is always appreciated.
Saturday after I got home from work I took advantage of the nice weather and went for a run outside.
Here's a quick bit of background so that this story makes sense: I just started running for the first time in my life (except when I was forced to in gym class) this past November. I ran outside until it got too cold, then started going back to the gym and running on the treadmill. When I started I was horrifically slow and couldn't get very far (no more than .5 miles) without stopping to walk. But, I've been slowly plugging away at it for the past few months and knew I was getting better/more in shape, but didn't realize how much better. Ok, I think that explains enough. On to the good part...
On Saturday I had the best run I've had thus far. It was a beautiful day--over 50 degrees in Pennsylvania--so I took advantage of it and went for a run outside instead of slaving over the treadmill (I much prefer to run outside, but I'm an absolute cold/wet/any kind of incliment weather wimp).
I power walked-ish for about .5 miles to get myself good and warmed up, then took off running. Much to my surprise, I was able to run over twice as far without stopping to walk. I'm not really sure how fan I ran distance wise, because I judge it by landmarks (I really should wear that pedometer that's laying around my house...somewhere) but it was definitely 2-3 times as far as normal. And this was up and down hills and on uneven roads. I did my entire 3 mile route in 35 minutes, and that was with walking bits and pieces. Not too shabby, for someone who's still a bit of a beginner!
This has me thinking that I should run a 5k...but I'm not sure if I'm that brave yet. I'm still really slow...I'm just trying to build up some endurance/muscles.

After all of that joy and excitement I got cleaned up and Adam and I went out for our "date night" to celebrate his birthday. We went to Longhorn Steakhouse for dinner, which was fantastic even though we had to wait almost an hour to be seated. That sucked, but it was Saturday night at peak dinner hour...and once we got seated the service was lightning quick.
After dinner we killed some time at the mall and then went to see "Gran Torino." That movie was FANTASTIC. It's definitely NOT for the easily offended--it was filled with tons of racial slurs--but it was fantastic nonetheless. And the ending completely blew me away...I won't give it up in case any of you want to go see it (which you SHOULD), but it was very, very unexpected.
Sunday we got up entirely too early (ok, we got up at 8, but we didn't got to bed till like 230) and headed off with the rest of his family to go to his aunt and uncles place for a random family gathering. It was a good day filled with great food, wonderful people, and lots of laughter. And a nap. :-D
It was wonderful, amazing, and fantastic to spend the time with Adam. Its funny...since we see each other so little and get to go out even less, every time we ARE together there's that butterflies in the tummy, head over heels, new feeling. Each date feels like the first. The "extra-curriculars" are always mind blowing. Even though it sucks that we don't see each other much, I'm really thankful for the good that does come out of it, because most couples can't/don't hold onto the new/blissful feelings for nearly as long as we have.
My boy...I love him. :-)

I'm back to work today, but only working 11 hours (I know, SUCH a slacker!). Then I have to head off to Weight Watchers for my monthly weigh in...then I go get my taxes done. Hopefully Uncle Sam gives me lots of my money back this year!
