"I'm pretty sure my cat has been reading my diary."

Last night's Glee was a bit... umm... hmm. A bit hmm.

- So much crying. So much. There was more crying in this episode than in all previous ones put together. There was so much moisture coming out of people's eyes that I expected my monitor screen to start getting damp. Weirdly enough though, none of this was quite as schmaltzy as when those deaf kids did Imagine.

- Mercedes' sub-plot veered a bit too close to After School Special territory for my liking, with its crashingly blatant Message. The fact that it was then capped off by such an un-ironic performance of Beautiful felt a bit heavy-handed and obvious for Glee.

- The upside was that this sub-plot did lead into me kind of falling in love with Quinn a bit, which was nice.

- Kristin Chenowith is fabulous. We all know this. But try as I might, I can't quite work out what she was doing in this episode. It was as if the writers throught "yeah, let's bring back Kristin Chenowith for she is awesome and everyone loves her!", only to then make her appearance completely pointless. Also, while I liked her duet with Will, I really, really didn't like her other songs and that's weird for me, because I usually like all of Glee's music.

- Barely any Rachel! Boooooo!

But it's not all moaning! There was lots of brilliance to be had, too! First off:

- Yes, I ship it (and you should too).

- Kurt's stuff was awesome. Kurt is one of my favourite characters and he got lots to do this week, including a big solo. Chris Colfer's voice is just... it's just awe-inspiring. For an episode that contained some of my least favourite Glee songs, it also contained one of my new absolute favourites! Hurrah!

- Sue never disappoints.

- Even Finn got some good material too!

Glee is incapable of producing a bad episode, but I think this is the one I'm probably the least enthusiastic about since Acafellas. Hopefully next week has a bit more bite to it. And a bit more Rachel.
