WHAT THEY LOST:
Tas has lost the ability to make and/or hold on to maps. If he tries to draw a map, he’ll simply get distracted and wander off to do something else instead. If someone gives him a map to hold on to (or if he happens to acquire one), he’ll inevitably lose it.
THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:
The dwarf gave a snort as his weary eyes caught sight of a familiar top-knot bobbing towards them through the crowd. “Better hold on to your pouch,” he warned his companion. “The kender’s back.”
Sure enough, Tasslehoff soon emerged from the throng, his smile nearly splitting his face from ear to pointed ear as he caught sight of his friends. Bouncing over, he eyed them curiously as he caught sight of the dwarf’s companion shifting his pouch to a more secure location. “What're you doing that for? Is there a thief around?” Pausing, the kender’s eyes widened dramatically as he whirled to look suspiciously at the crowd. “There is, isn't there! In fact, I’ll bet that shifty eyed fellow is one. The one over there by the cart? He was pocketing a whole mess of pretty necklaces and chains and I’ll just bet he stole them.”
The dwarf scoffed, shaking his head in disgust. “That’s the merchant, you lunkhead. And you’ll stay away from him, if you know what’s good for you and for us. The last thing we need is-“ He trailed off suddenly, eyes narrowing suspiciously as he noticed the glint of sunlight on something shiny that was dangling from Tas’s outermost pouch. “Say now… what’s that?”
“Huh?” Nonplussed, Tasslehoff reached down to grab the shining object, a look of thrilled wonder on his face as the golden chain pooled in his palm. “Wow! Look at that! I wonder where that came from? Do you think it was a gift from the fairies, Flint? I bet it was! I met a fairy once, you know. I was traveling down near Sancrist when-“
“Not now!” The dwarf said, grabbing him roughly by the arm and shoving him forward as the merchant looked up from his inventory and began gesturing for the guards. It would only be a matter of moments before they’d be spotted. “By the gods, I’m not spending a night in a jail cell because of you!”
Looking hurt, Tas dropped the chain back in his pouch and promptly forgot it. “What’ve I got to do with anything? I was just standing here.” But he let himself get shoved forward, the frantic merchant already out of his mind.
