For those of you following the home game, last Thursday after
muzakgurrl left, but mostly just after the Macparents left that evening which left me all alone in the house, I moved on from the penultimate stage of my
fucking long Doctor Who ordeal --"Paralyzing Fear Of Actually Watching Army of Ghosts and Doomsday"-- to the ultimate stage. Watching them.
But first, y'know, because when it comes down to it I'm A Smart Person!, I watched the last two parts of Russell T. Davies' Casanova which I had never finished.
Hah. HAHAH. SO SMART! SO SMART IT MAKES ME PROUD!
Oh, the sarcasm!
And as you may have noticed, I haven't really posted a lot since then. I
alerted the world to the new Torchwood promos, but that's just my duty to society. And today
I wished hecatehatesthat a happy birthday.
But there's so much I want to say about Doomsday, and the show itself, and this season's themes. And there's so much I want to write, too, dark post-apocalyptic ["It all begins with the heat wave."], and stupid wish-fulfillment [oh, the Doctor takes Rose to the Summer of Love!]. There's so much I want to read, too, so much I've read, actually actively sought out fic, which hasn't happened to me since BtVS.
I made a big fuss last year about
BSG and VM being "my shows" and the delight of finally again having something to which you could really say, "I love my show!" and it was definitely true when I wrote it, probably still true now. But really, there's something to be said for this active immersion in fandom that never really reached [or have yet reached] for BSG or VM. I still have fic *ideas* for VM, and I still love formulating ideas on the themes of BSG...
But if you've noticed, I never actually wrote any of them down. And I never wrote fic. And I never read fic. Sure, maybe a one-off or a snippet or a ficathon here or there, but never the active search or the need for the, okay, what ELSE has happened? could happen? would never happen but maybe should?
And I still haven't rewatched half of those shows' aired episodes. Whereas I've already rewatched The Christmas Invasion, School Reunion, and half of New Earth, and am planning on a series rewatch as soon as I can get out the chunk of issues that Doomsday has brought out in me. Get it out in writing is what I need to do, and this post is just procrastinating that.
But what am I if not the Procrastinating Queen?
