girl needs a boy.

I have started three posts in the past few days and haven't finished any of them. So before my attention spam runs out again, I'll make this quick.

Flashback to yesterday. I think. Or the day before. The Wonderfalls theme song comes up on WinMX. Sismac says for the five billionth time: "So, tell me what this show was about? Why was it so good? Why did it get canceled?"

And I splainy.

Ten minutes later, I get a random impulse, pop out my CD of the first two episodes. Start playing them. "Wait," she says. "I want to watch it with you."

Hah. Success. After like, six months, but whatever.

So in any case, she's way hooked, and I think I'm loving it even more than I did upon first viewing. We started the unaired episodes this afternoon -- which I hadn't watched yet, I was waiting for an AVI of Crime Dog to come up so I could burn all the unaired eps on to a CD in the usual way -- and we're caught up to episode seven, Lovesick Ass which may actually not be episode seven since the REAL episode six [Barrel Bear] is missing. But whatever.

[Do you think someone could tell I'm from California, without looking at my userinfo? The mind boggles. Which, by the way, I've always thought would be a good name for a band. The Mind Boggles.]

And now I must go on and declare why, even more than I thought before, I am Jaye Tyler. Well, first I must FINALLY squee about the Jaye/Eric kissage because oh my god, they are the most adorable thing ever in a really skillful, potentially really angsty way. They're not cutesy, they're not melodramatic, they're just two people with big problems. And Jaye's problem is herself. Which hey, sounds familiar. Her “do you have feelings for me” conversation with Eric sounded like it came from my own mouth. I could have seen Eric getting really pissed off with her had they not come to the conclusion they did, with Peter [heh] and Katya. And in this, Eric’s the more emotional person, he’s taken the typical female role in his attempts to bring their relationship further. It’s not like I haven’t seen this before, because hello to Buffy and Spike. But it’s different with them, because Jaye isn’t so bound by her own denial and disgust. Eric knows she’s attracted to him, he just wants to get it out of her. He doesn’t get frustrated with her for not being attracted to him, he gets frustrated with her for not allowing herself to admit that. And again, this sounds like Buffy and Spike, but in this case Jaye freely shows her attraction to Eric, she just doesn’t want to admit it -- to make it real -- for fear of being hurt. He sees it. It’s obvious to him, to Mahandra. But if Jaye says it, then she’s out, unguarded. Everything that comes out of her mouth is a snarky response. It’s an offense used as a defense, to prevent her from ever being wrong. She’s always on top, she won’t ever fall because she never tries to get any further. It’s like what Binky brought up in Karma Chameleon, the ‘metaphoric beauty’ of Jaye’s trailer. The purpose of its very existence is to move, and yet it is not hitched to anything. It’s stuck, but comfortably so. As is Jaye.

Until the end of Lovesick Ass, when Eric makes it easy for her and asks her out on a date. And then she’s free to kiss him, because he took the final step when she couldn’t. She kisses him because she knows there’s no fear of rejection now, there’s nothing stopping her.

So, in conclusion, I need to meet someone like Eric. [Hopefully with the same blue eyes.]

And damn, I want to make icons of that kiss, but it looks like I’ll have to make the caps myself. Which there is a problem with. My whole ASUSDVD XP/PowerDVD issue. The general…deletion of those things.

Even moreso now that I've seen more episodes, this is like Firefly all over again, except I really really doubt there will ever be a film made. Fucking FOX rabid whores.

Um, soon there will be thoughts on Prisoner of Azkaban: book vs. film, more music posting fun, and a declaration of my fear that I've broken my computer's ability to play DVDs. Actually, less the fear of that and more of...a plea for help. Because I did.
