With a humidex of 33 degrees outside (91 degrees for the Americans), it's hot out. I've had my blinds closed all day and the lights off, and the temperature in my apartment seems to be holding at 26.5 degrees (80 F), which is on the warm side even for me. (Though not as bad as 33.) There is now copious amounts of tea in my apartment, along with a kettle in which to make boiling water and mugs in which to decant it. Also sugar, sweetener, and spoons. I realize that I haven't actually posted any kind of update for the weekend yet. How neglectful of me.

Marc and I are disappointed with the new decor at Camellia Sinensis and are looking for a new teahouse. I've heard that Ming Tao Xuan (451 Ste Sulpice, around the corner from Notre Dame Basilica) is good and want to try it out, but I'm not a huge fan of going for tea alone. So, who wants to try it out with me?

So the coffee machine at work makes really watery hot chocolate. Today I decided to see if adding soy milk to it would thicken it up a bit and make it any better.

Now it tastes like watery hot chocolate with a soy aftertaste. Blech!

Time to go make some tea, I think.

It looks like right near Marc's place, there's a patisserie / teahouse called Patisserie de la Gare.

Never been there, but it looks tasty. Once we're both better, I think a field trip is in order.

1. It turns out that the D&D game I was playing when I was doing my M.A. in Toronto two years ago is apparently still running. Marc and I made a cameo appearance last December, and I'd had updates until last February. But it looks like I'm just 7 months out of the loop, because it's still (apparently) going strong. After several years of collecting, I now have about 25 types of tea. The problem: I only like about half of them. The other half were gifts, experiments, etc. Because I don't like them, the boxes are nearly full. There's no chance I'm going to consume them any time soon ( Read more... )
