Today after some errands (including turning in our ballots, yay!), I focused on Halloween. I cleaned up all the cobwebs around the door - my annual unkindness to Mrs Funnel Spider - and all the cat dishes, etc., but I didn't bother moving the cats' stacking baskets because with all the rain in the forecast I didn't actually expect trick-or-treaters. As it happened, though, the rain was just sprinkles or drizzle. I had seven kids come to my house, and J had eleven, which curiously only overlapped by four kids, the ones I told to visit him.
Meanwhile, we were watching The Mummy with his Discord friends. I had watched it earlier in the week and didn't mind getting up to answer the door the two times my doorbell rang. When it got to the part where Rick et al. are following Evy and Imhotep back to Hamunaptra, I turned off my porch lights and went to J's house to watch the ending with him. I always wonder what the porch cats think of that, since I only turn off my porch light that one time all year, and it's also the evening when their food dishes are all cleaned away. I guess they trust it will return in a few hours, as it always does.
