Why Ticketmaster is teh gay.

When I checked the mail today, I was pleasently rewarded. Turns out my new Bank One debit card had came in! Yesterday I heard about a show at the Parish @ House of Blues I'd like to go to, to see Flickerstick on this Saturday (sorry Glasgow). Not sure of the price of the ticket, I go to www.ticketmaster.com to see how much it was, and potentially purchase one. As many of you know, ticketmaster has buku lame charges, but upon finding the ticket, I was truly astonished at how Quadruple Buku much they were trying to weasle out of the common consumer.

I took a screenshot of this disgusting display, to share with the world. If you'd like to see it, click the picture below.

Did you click?

Ok, so I highlight(ed?) some of the key factors.

First off, the ticket was $10. That is a completely reasonable price, and I am willing to pay it.

If you look to the right, you see a "Building Facility Charge" - hmm... interesting... shouldn't that be included already? Well... if not, its only $1 (but $1 is 10% of the cost of the ticket).

Next up comes the "Convenience Charge." Ok, so I don't have to drive (or be driven) out to go and pick up a ticket but there are many ticketmaster locations, such as: The House of Blues, any Major Video Store, the Lakefront Arena, etc. In the case of this show, it is not going to sell out, and so I can always just purchase a ticket whenever i get there. Another thing... its $5 bucks. That is a shitload. That is half of the ticket price! Charging $5 is absurd.

Here is the final blow. You can choose Will Call for free, but the recommended "shipping" option is for "ticketfast" - recieving your ticket in an email and printing it out at home. Now I'll say this; being able to print out a ticket from your computer is quite convinient (maybe it should be included in the above charge) but all that is required to send the tickets to our respective email boxes is a computer controlled and standalone program. This requires another $2.50? Bull. (Another small point... I like saving my ticket stubbs, and a computer printout just isn't the same.)

Ok, that's about it.
Perhaps I should go to the government about this craziness... I think I will. If they don't do anything about it though, I'll most definately turn to Six On Your Side.

Peace.

P.S. Glasgow is having a show at The Howlin' Wolf on Saturday Jan. 8th. They're good. You should go see them.
