Scott Saavedra

I consider myself a fan and a friend of cartoonist, SLG art director and Comic Book Heaven curator Scott Saavedra. Scott has been associated with SLG since the beginning, or close to it, and not only is he a fine cartoonist (It's Science w/Dr. Radium, Java Town, etc), he's also a heck of  a nice guy. Scott played a pivotal role in my first getting published at SLG way back in 1988, when he pushed Dan and I to drunkenly discuss the idea of SLG accepting the then free-floating Pirate Corp$! for publication, and I've always been grateful to him for that.

Scott posted on his blog yesterday about his mounting difficulties in dealing with Polycystic Kidney Disease, which he's been dealing with for some time. He's asking folks to consider purchasing some items from his Zazzle gallery to help defray medical costs, or simply kick in a couple of bucks if they're able to. If you've enjoyed Scott's work in the past, if you've enjoyed his Comic Book Heaven shows at various conventions, or have recently won the lottery, I'd like to ask you to please take a moment to read his post and see if there's anything you're able to do to help out.

Thanks for your time and attention.
