This is probably not a good idea

I have decided that this is the time for me to make a drunken post. This is not a question of impaired judgment. No, not at all. This is a requirement. In fact, if you check the LJ TOS, it clearly states: “Each Livejournal user shall make at least one (1) post while intoxicated. This provision shall ensure that readers of said user’s journal shall lose all faith in humanity, as they shall witness that other users, no matter how rational while sober, are complete and utter morons while under the influence of alcohol. This sub- clause fulfills the central tenant of our mission statement.”

Now, you may be wondering to yourself, “Ellie, it’s only 10:30. How on Earth are you this plastered?” And you are perfectly right to wonder this. Well, I got to tell you, my friend Erin makes a mean Appletini. Or five.

I am also posting this because I have meant to post for some time now, but have been way too busy this week. I have been trying to find a new place to live, and have been spending at least 4 hours a day on the Washington Metro. Which, if you’ve never used it, is a complete bitch and hates me like a Roman hates a Visigoth.

On the plus side, yes, I have a new apartment that I will be moving into next month.

Just so this post is not void of anything resembling relevance, I would like to share with you brief reviews of movies I have seen recently, but do not have the time to review fully.

1) Mysterious Skin: Owwwwwwwww. This movie hurt me, but it’s still incredibly good. This is a movie about pedophilia, prostitution, homosexuality, thwarted personal growth, Goths, small town America, intense trauma and aliens. It also proves that Joseph Gordon-Levitt can act and that Michelle Trachtenberg cannot.

2) The Forgotten (rental): Gloriana. Do NOT see this movie. If you cannot guess the plot twist in the first twenty minutes of the movie, I will be very surprised. This movie is so bad, it is not even worth making fun of.

3) Fantastic Four: This, on the other hand, is so bad that it is funny. Seriously, even if you cannot image Ioan Gruffudd as a superhero (and I certainly couldn’t), it’s a good time. Not intelligent in any way, shape or form, and not as good of a comic book movie as X-Men or Batman Begins, but worth a couple of bucks. And, yes, there is a forthcoming BBE of this.

4) Prince Charming (rental): Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. SUCKS. But in that really hilarious way that Hallmark Hall of Fame movies can. A great MST3K movie, if you and your friends are in to that. Has Bernadette Peters and Martin Short as overacting secondary characters. How can that not be amusing?

I would also like to take this opportunity to note: Stealth has the worst premise I have seen in years. A computer learns to think for itself after getting struck by lightning. LIGHTNING. What is this, the 50s? I thought we were past this kind of “science.”

movie review, errant stupidity
